Richard Deacon takes part in Made in Cologne at Peter Freeman, Inc., 140 Grand Street, New York, from 22 May to 26 July 2024. The exhibition presents a selection of ceramic sculptures produced in the atelier of Niels Dietrich and is described by the gallery as the first to show the breadth and the impact of the workshop. Dietrich set up the atelier in 1984, after working with Norbert Prangenberg, and moved it from Krefeld to Cologne in 1989; the first project made after the move was Thomas Schütte's Black Lemons. The gallery's text speaks of "a kind of structured abstraction" in the works by Deacon. The other artists are David Adamo, Cameron Jamie, Alicja Kwade, Heinz Mack, Mike Meiré, Mai-Thu Perret, Otto Piene, Heinz-Günter Prager, Norbert Prangenberg, Thomas Schütte, Rosemarie Trockel, Paloma Varga Weisz, Rose Wylie and Anna Zimmermann.
