Richard Deacon: Looking for Something at DOTS Gallery, Belgrade

DOTS Gallery, at Lower Kalemegdan in Belgrade, presents Looking for Something, the first solo exhibition by Richard Deacon in Serbia, from 19 September to 7 December 2024. The exhibition is curated by Mirjana Dušić and Ljuba Jovićević and organised with the support of the British Council and the British Embassy in Belgrade. It presents works from five cycles made in recent years and not exhibited before: the prints on polyester Second Motif; the wooden sculptures UW84DC #18, #19 and #20; the ceramics Made of This; In the Woods, compositions that come from experiments in cutting wood; and Tread, sculptures with undulating surfaces. The text in the catalogue is by the art historian Jasmina Čubrilo. Deacon is already present in Belgrade with From There to Here (2019), the sculpture on the Kalemegdan footbridge made with the Serbian sculptor Mrđan Bajić.
