Richard Deacon: About Us at Galerie Thomas Schulte, Berlin
Galerie Thomas Schulte, Berlin, Germany
29 June – 24 August 2024
Galerie Thomas Schulte presents About Us, an exhibition by Richard Deacon, in the Corner Space of its Berlin gallery at Charlottenstrasse 24 from 29 June to 24 August 2024. The exhibition consists of two works. About Us (White) (2024), in painted and lacquered stainless steel on a mild steel base, 148 x 76 x 56 cm, is an almost life-size sculpture made of interlocking segments separated by small gaps. Compound Interference (2024), 200 x 191 cm, is a black-and-white wall drawing in permanent marker, executed according to rules of hatching set by the artist, so that each installation can differ. The exhibition text, by Julianne Cordray, presents the two works as a concentrated view of Deacon's formal language over two decades.
