Francesco De Grandi is one of the four contemporary artists invited to the Museo Diocesano Carlo Maria Martini in Milan for Giovanni Bellini. Il Compianto dai Musei Vaticani. Quattro artisti contemporanei in dialogo con un capolavoro. The exhibition presents Bellini's Compianto sul Cristo morto, on loan from the Pinacoteca Vaticana and originally the crowning panel of the altarpiece painted for the church of San Francesco in Pesaro. It is curated by Nadia Righi, director of the Museo Diocesano, Fabrizio Biferali, curator at the Vatican Museums, and Giuseppe Frangi, president of the Associazione Giovanni Testori, who is responsible for the contemporary section, made with Casa Testori. De Grandi shows a large canvas that reinterprets the iconography of the Lamentation in contemporary terms; the other artists are LETIA (Letizia Cariello), Emma Ciceri and Andrea Mastrovito.
