Single and Plural

For the first time in Palermo, RizzutoGallery presents a solo exhibition of Lucio Pozzi (Milan, 1935). The artist engaged with American avant-gardes during the 1960s-70s while based in New York, sharing aesthetic investigations alongside minimalism, conceptual art, and antiform movements.

Pozzi's practice consistently addresses painting's linguistic dimensions—examining both sign and surface while emphasizing emotional color connotation. This dual approach manifests across multiple formats where imagery remains connected to phenomenal nature, though sometimes subordinated to visual solutions. His work spans performance and environmental installation, consistently articulating opposing systems in dialogue that avoids didactic narrative and simple reality commentary.

The exhibition, accompanied by Marcello Carriero's curatorial text, presents works spanning decades—from earliest to recent pieces—organized thematically rather than chronologically. The selection demonstrates the coherence underlying Pozzi's extended artistic trajectory.
