Mattia Barbieri is among the more than forty artists involved in Xilogenesi, a scientific, cultural and artistic project devoted to the nineteenth-century xylotheque of Eugenio Trevisan, a collection of wooden books describing forest species kept by the TESAF department of the University of Padua at the Centro Studi per l'Ambiente Alpino in San Vito di Cadore. The artists were selected by Dolomiti Contemporanee. The project includes three exhibitions between June 2025 and January 2026. Barbieri is listed for the exhibition in the greenhouse of Palazzo Lazzaris in Perarolo di Cadore (8–31 August 2025) and for the one at the Museo botanico of the Orto botanico di Padova (26 September 2025 – 6 January 2026). One part of the project is a set of forty-four A4 drawings, developed with Ariele Bacchetti, in which each artist interprets a forest species.
