Mattia Barbieri: BLUMEN DE LUMINE at RizzutoGallery Düsseldorf

RizzutoGallery Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf, Germany
13 June – 26 July 2025

RizzutoGallery Düsseldorf presents BLUMEN DE LUMINE, a solo exhibition by Mattia Barbieri. The title is a German-Latin wordplay meaning "flowers of light" and refers to the alchemical treatise Lumen de Lumine. The exhibition brings together a new cycle of works on light, nature and the sacred, ranging from large paintings in oil and tempera on wood to small oils on copper and three small bronzes. The flower is the central motif, shown both as fragile beauty and as a conduit of cosmic energy, next to massive human figures moving between heaven and earth. Barbieri carves into the painted surface and uses materials such as concrete, giving the works a sculptural quality. Works on view include The big blume, Holding the Blume, Vanitas Jellybeans and Blu-Men De Lumine, all dated 2025. The exhibition opened on Friday 13 June 2025 and ran until 26 July 2025.
