Luigi Presicce curates Calabriselle at Thalassa Gallery, Porto Cesareo
Thalassa Gallery, Porto Cesareo, Italy
3 January – 3 April 2026
Luigi Presicce is the curator of Calabriselle, the second exhibition in the programme of Thalassa Gallery in Porto Cesareo (Lecce), on view from 3 January to 3 April 2026. The show presents three artists of Calabrian origin, Anna Capolupo, Martina Bruni and Grazia Amelia Bellitta, and combines contemporary art with ethnographic memory. The title refers to the Calabrisella, a figure connected with the matriarchal culture of Calabria. Capolupo, of Arbëreshë heritage, turns rituals and memories into painting, sculpture and ceramics; Bellitta makes amulet-like objects linked to the apotropaic masks of Seminara; Bruni works on memory, on the body as territory and on suspended landscapes. The exhibition also pays homage to the late Carmine Pirrotta. The press release includes a text by Presicce on Calabria, its landscapes and mass tourism.
