The platform transform.NRW presents Pangasius, an installation by Katharina Maderthaner, among its Good Practices: projects put forward as examples of sustainable transformation. The work, dated 2021 and first shown in the Malkastenpark in Düsseldorf, consists of a mound of real ice cubes, ceramic replicas of pangasius fillets and small peas, and a standard rental e-scooter that lights the slowly melting ice at night. On 24 February 2026 an interdisciplinary group analysed the installation with the Map/ing Sustainability method, which relates a project's potential effects to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The analysis points to food consumption, production and trade, to the ceramic fish that outlast the melting ice, and to the e-scooter as a sign of dependence on finite resources.
