24 January – 23 February 2025

Katharina Maderthaner and Martina Fineder, both of Bergische Universität Wuppertal, curate Fruchtbare Strukturen. Laborausstellung für vernetztes Denken und Handeln, on view at Kunsthalle Barmen in Wuppertal from 24 January to 23 February 2025. It is the second exhibition at the Kunsthalle under the direction of the university. The exhibition looks at networked production and consumption in the city and takes fungi and mycelia as a symbol of networked thinking and action; its guiding themes are the circular economy and the common good. Artists, designers and scientists develop sustainable practices and experiment with materials in a laboratory format open to the public, with a programme of workshops. Maderthaner is also among the participants, with Linda Skellington, Maria Wildeis, Arpad Dobriban, Heinrich Weid, Stephan Engelke and others. The exhibition is a cooperation with Industrial Design at the university and the joint project transform.NRW.
