Artist
Paola Angelini
Statement
Paola Angelini's painting is understood as a language in which the procedural methodology and the attention to the context make the pictorial space a place of relationship and comparison. However, this remains a mental, dreamlike space, which seems to separate in two: on the one hand it is more visionary and the images are sometimes constructions linked to events or elements of reality that touch the symbolic and allegorical field. The other is instead focused on the representation of the real that surrounds her, which often influences her works, and in which the process of transfiguration is minimal, but the filtering and sublimation that the artist operates through his style and his painting. Her research focuses on the precise choice to investigate the evident limits and not the mere pictorial action. The canvas is a space in which she proceeds by layering of images, where the gaps and research possibilities are made evident, in this way each new painting remains open to the next. Making images with painting has the peculiarity of building within a two-dimensional "space", where the limit and infinite possibility meet in a single point and this generates a constant inner struggle.
Paola Angelini after attending Bjarne Melgaard's workshop held at the course of Visual Arts at the IUAV University of Venice, in 2011 she exhibited in the Norwegian pavilion of the 54th International Art Exhibition, Venice Biennale.
